Artist Bio

Hotrodder from birth...
I've been drawing hotrods and custom cars since I was old enough to hold a crayon. We had lots of classics and Street rods when I was growing up in Ohio. Back in 1995 I won a portfolio scholarship and had planned to attend Cleveland Institute of Art. But long story short, I never went and other outlets took over. So my self taught crash course into learning digital probably differs from others.
I generally start the same way I did with paper back in the 80's and 90's. I'll bragartly state, in my youth I was a champion at free-hand drawing and my forte was realism. But as a kid, I often used tracing paper over a page in a hotrod magazine for a quick start.
So... With digital, I'll most often take an actual Image of the vehicle. And I'll treat it like a light board and basically create an outline of the actual vehicle. Then is where the fun begins. I then go in and redraw new body lines and stretch fender wells and push aggressive distorted stances. And then basically paint It as real as possible, referencing the real car constantly to get small personal details that make each of our cars so unique.
I slapped this image together to sort of illustrate this but it's not representative of any one workflow. It's always different with each project. Just like our rides.
